During this Community of Practice (CoP) meeting, participating teachers shared their first experiences with the apps Taalzee and Klankkr8. Most schools have now started using the apps and report that pupils are enthusiastic. Many pupils enjoy working with the apps, and some teachers already notice progress in reading and phoneme recognition. At the same time, practical challenges were discussed, such as technical issues when starting up or having to log in again on iPads.
The group also explored how the results from the apps’ back-end can be used to provide more targeted support in the classroom. The reports clearly show pupils’ progress per component and highlight where they still experience difficulties. Teachers exchanged ideas on how this information can help tailor lessons and engage pupils more actively in their own learning process.
The meeting provided participants with new insights into both the potential of the apps and effective ways to use the data to strengthen reading instruction.
