Fourth COP the Netherlands

The first Community of Practice meeting of the 2024–2025 school year focused on getting to know each other, sharing experiences with digital reading apps, and formulating learning goals.

Schools shared their experiences: Taalzee was received positively, while Kareton and Bouw received mixed feedback. Teachers emphasized the need for apps that better match the diversity of their pupils and allow for more tailored use. Key themes that emerged included:

  • How to use apps effectively and practically in the classroom.
  • Balancing technical and reading comprehension skills.
  • The importance of apps that are motivating and suitable for the school’s population (e.g., multilingual learners).

Ymke presented an overview diagram linking apps to specific reading skills and provided a more detailed explanation of the app Klankkr8. Participating schools were invited to either continue with Taalzee or to start using Klankkr8.

Finally, follow-up meeting dates were set, and it was announced that digital office hours will be available for teachers to ask questions.
