Ireland CoP 4

The fourth Irish Community of Practice took place on 21st March 2024.  The original plan was to host the CoP session at Our Lady of Victories School in Ballymun.

However, due to logistical issues, the CoP decided to host the session on Zoom.  It was a successful meeting and the participants got through a lot of details during the session.

At the start of the meeting, there was an overview of the licences and support that will be available to each school as part of the AdAPPtive project.

There was a review of the pre-intervention data that was required from each teacher, including the teacher feedback from and as well as learner data.  The required learner data included

  • Reading Competency:
    • standardized word reading (Micra T)
    • passage reading test (DRA & YARC, but any will do).
  • Reading attitudes:
    • SRQ-Reading Motivation (De Naeghel, Van Keer, Vansteenkiste & Rosseel, 2012)
    • Reading self-concept (4 items from PIRLS – Martin et al., 2007)
  • Executive functioning:
    • BRIEF 2 (short version translated into English).

Each teacher was asked to send a headshot to the AdAPPtive team for use on the adAPPtive website.  There was also a discussion of dissemination of the project at the school and at local level.  Plans were made for the next CoP meeting, which will be held in June 2024.

There was also a discussion of the first International CoP which is due to take place online on June 7th 2024.  Each CoP will prepare a general presentation on progress to date, national CoP activities and there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences.  The second international CoP will take place in 2025.
