Sixth COP the Netherlands

During this Community of Practice meeting, the focus was on the use of digital apps to support pupils with reading difficulties. Special attention was given to matching an app to the specific challenges of an individual pupil: Which app, or which elements of an app, can be used for which type of challenge? Teachers from different schools exchanged experiences with Taalzee and Klankkr8 and provided feedback on the latest version of the shared app overview.

A key discussion topic was how apps can be effectively integrated into classroom practice:

  • Some teachers reported resistance from colleagues or early-years teachers towards digital tools, while pupils and parents are often enthusiastic.
  • Experiences show that apps not only support practice but also provide valuable insights into pupils’ specific difficulties.
  • There is a need for apps that better align with existing instruction and teaching methods.

The meeting also looked ahead to the upcoming visit to Dublin. The programme for the international CoP there was discussed. Participants hope to gain inspiration on reading education, inclusive education, and international approaches to learning difficulties. Teachers are eager to learn from schools that are already further along in implementing digital tools.
