During the latest Community of Practice (CoP) meeting of this schoolyear, teachers and team members shared their experiences with using apps. A central part of the meeting was the presentation of an initial overview of available reading and language apps. This overview categorises apps by skill (such as decoding, reading fluency, spelling, vocabulary, and reading comprehension), level of support, degree of student independence, and costs. Teachers provided valuable feedback to further refine this tool so that it can serve as a practical resource for selecting appropriate apps for classroom use.
The group also reflected on the past school year. Teachers highlighted that apps often boost student motivation and, in several cases, led to noticeable progress in reading skills. At the same time, they expressed the need for more insight into the analytic functions of apps, in order to better connect digital data with daily teaching practice.
